As in tune with Nature as possible

For optimal synergy between grape varieties and landscapes.
An interpretation of the landscape that forms a natural amphitheatre facing the Mediterranean Sea, allowed us to create the Fortant viticultural regions, taking into account diversity that is geological (limestone, schist, granite and basalt), geographical (maritime influences, plains and mountains), and climatic (winds from the Mediterranean that meet those from the Massif Central highlands).

We are committed to sustainable viticulture that favours a sensible approach to winegrowing and agronomical practises that are aimed at preserving the environment.

The natural balances between the soil, the vines and their environment.

  • Grass is allowed to grow between the rows of vines to limit erosion and improve soil life
  • The soil is tilled for improved aeration
  • The use of organic fertilizers is given priority
  • Water consumption is reduced in the vineyards and at the wineries
  • The vine leaves and the soil are analysed to determine fertilization needs
  • The use of plant-care products and non-organic fertilizers is kept to a minimum in all of the vineyards
  • Lower yields than as stipulated for the appellation for better concentration
  • Trustworthy partnerships
  • A charter has been signed to reduce waste and avoid the used of non-recyclable materials.  

Our commitment

All of our suppliers are certified, from the ecolabel “Imprim’vert” to ISO 14001. Our packaging: recycled cardboard boxes, water and vegetable oil-based inks, and water-based varnishes. We are making on-going progress in working with our suppliers to reduce our ecological footprint.

All of the House of Fortant’s wines are bottled at a certified site that guarantees quality traceability according to food safety standards:

  • International Food Standard (IFS)
  • British Retail Consortium (BRC)
